Acupuncture

Stimulate Healing, Relieve Pain & Restore Flow

Acupuncture is a time-tested therapy that uses very fine, single-use needles at specific points on the body to help your nervous system settle, ease pain, and support your body’s natural healing processes. Many people find it deeply relaxing, even if they’re a little needle-shy at first – most describe the sensation as a brief pinch, a dull ache, or a warm, spreading feeling that fades quickly.

Modern research shows that acupuncture can be a helpful part of care plans for several kinds of chronic pain (including back and neck pain, osteoarthritis, headaches, and migraines), with benefits similar in size to other non-drug treatments. It’s also well-established as a supportive therapy for insomnia, anxiety, and mood symptoms, with clear evidence that it improves sleep quality and helps regulate the body’s stress response systems. Many people also turn to acupuncture for digestive support — from sluggish bowels and bloating to heartburn, nausea, and general digestive discomfort — because it can help calm the gut and support smoother, more balanced digestion.

People often come to acupuncture for support with things like:

  • Chronic or recurrent pain (back, neck, shoulder, hip, knee, jaw/TMJ)

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Stress, anxiety, and feeling “stuck” in fight-or-flight

  • Trouble falling or staying asleep (insomnia)

  • Digestive issues such as:

-Sluggish bowels or constipation
-Bloating or abdominal discomfort

-Heartburn / reflux sensations
-Nausea or unsettled stomach

  • Menstrual pain or cycle-related discomfort

  • Support during big life stresses, grief, or burnout

  • General tune-ups for resilience, relaxation, and immune support

Acupuncture is not a replacement for necessary medical care, but it can be a powerful complement to the support you’re already receiving. We’re always happy to collaborate with your other providers when that’s helpful.

Acupuncture Works Cumulatively
What to Expect

One of the most important things to know about acupuncture is that it’s cumulative – each treatment builds on the last. While some people feel a noticeable shift after the first visit or two, research and clinical experience show that most conditions benefit from multiple sessions before you really know how your body will respond.

A typical starting plan might look like:

  • The first 3–4 sessions: Usually scheduled weekly (sometimes more often for acute issues). This is where your system is getting repeated reminders to shift out of old patterns of pain, tension, or dysregulation.

  • Sessions 5–8 and beyond: As things begin to stabilize, your practitioner may start spacing visits out – for example every 1–2 weeks, then monthly maintenance as needed.

We generally encourage people to commit to at least 3–4 sessions before deciding whether acupuncture is a good fit. That window gives your body a fair chance to respond and gives us time to fine-tune your treatment plan together.
