Manual Lymph Drainage
Support for Your Lymphatic System
Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a gentle, rhythmic form of bodywork that supports your body’s natural ability to move and filter lymphatic fluid. It’s deeply calming to the nervous system and encourages the release of swelling, congestion, and tension—leaving you feeling lighter and more balanced.
Sarah Gay, CMLDT is trained in the Vodder-style MLD method through Klose Training. The Klose-Vodder curriculum emphasizes both the underlying anatomy and physiology of the lymphatic network and the precise, trained hand movements that mobilize lymph rather than simply “massage” tissues.
Because the lymphatic system is one of the key pathways through which our body moves fluid, filters waste, and regulates inflammation, MLD can be especially helpful when you’re dealing with:
-
Post-surgical or post-traumatic swelling and fluid retention
-
Chronic swelling, heaviness, or lymphatic congestion
-
Sinus pressure, allergies, or head/neck fullness
-
General fatigue or sluggishness
-
Immune system or detoxification support
-
Recovery after illness or inflammation
-
Stress-related tension or nervous system overload
-
A desire to support overall drainage, circulation, and balance
Unlike traditional massage, MLD uses a very light, wave-like touch to gently stretch the skin and stimulate lymph vessels just beneath the surface. These specific, rhythmic movements help clear waste and excess fluid while improving the body’s overall balance and resilience.
If you’re curious about this technique, you can also add 15 minutes of MLD to any massage session with Sarah. This brief introduction offers a chance to experience the unique rhythm and light touch of lymphatic work without committing to a full session—though lasting results are best achieved through a dedicated MLD treatment.
What to Expect in a Session
Your first session includes a thorough intake and conversation about your health history, goals, and how the lymphatic system works. Sarah takes time to explain what’s happening in your body and how MLD can best support it—especially if you’re new to this type of therapy or have specific health considerations.
During the session, you’ll remain comfortably draped as she works with slow, intentional movements to guide lymphatic flow. The pressure is light—often compared to the weight of a nickel—and the effect is deeply soothing. Many clients drift into a meditative state or feel subtle sensations of warmth, lightness, or calm as the body shifts toward balance.
Afterward, you might notice decreased swelling, improved energy, or an overall sense of ease. Sarah may also share simple self-care suggestions—like gentle movement, hydration, or positioning—to help maintain healthy lymph flow between sessions.
In follow-up appointments, less time is needed for intake, allowing for a full treatment focused on supporting drainage and maintaining the results of your previous sessions

Why Our Rates Include a 'Tip' Amount
We compensate all our practitioners at or above industry standards for their specialty, ensuring they receive a living wage. Since gratuity is a standard part of massage therapist pay—typically 40–50% of their take-home income—our massage and bodywork rates include an 18% tip built into therapist compensation.
This approach allows our practitioners to focus fully on your care, without depending on tips—and we believe that's better for everyone.
Because gratuity is already included, you're never expected or required to tip at checkout. However, if you'd like to leave an additional amount, it will be received as a sincere and appreciated “thank you” for the care you received.
