Somatic Experiencing®
Overcome chronic stress, anxiety, trauma and learn to thrive
Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a gentle, body-centered healing modality developed by Dr. Peter Levine. This internationally recognized “bottom-up” approach supports the release of stored tension, stress, and trauma held in the body, helping you reconnect with your innate capacity for balance and resilience.
When the nervous system becomes dysregulated, you may feel anxious, shut down, or caught between the two. SE helps restore regulation by guiding you to notice and safely resolve the physiological patterns that keep the body in survival mode. It also helps you establish a sense of inner safety and supports your ability to tend to yourself in nourishing ways.
Rather than focusing on story or analysis, SE works through awareness of body sensations—what Dr. Levine calls the felt sense—to help your system safely discharge the activation that accompanies survival responses like fight, flight, or freeze. The process happens in small, manageable steps (“titration”), allowing change to integrate gently without overwhelm. Through this process, you learn to read your body’s signals, expand your tolerance for strong emotions and sensations, and cultivate a deeper sense of safety and presence. Over time, SE helps you reclaim your vitality and move through life with greater confidence, agency, and ease—more connected to yourself and to the world around you.
Additionally, if you’ve done traditional talk therapy and are ready for a more body-based approach, Somatic Experiencing® offers a practical way to bring your healing into the body—helping you move from understanding to embodied transformation.

What to Expect in a Session
All sessions will be completed with Kara Streit, SEP. Each session unfolds at your pace, guided by your comfort and curiosity. Work may be done seated, reclined, or on the massage table and may include SE Touch—a gentle, stationary form of touch used to support the nervous system rather than manipulate tissue.
SE Touch differs from massage therapy: it is non-manipulative and specifically designed to serve as an external support for your nervous system. It can help your body release stored energy from overwhelming experiences, assist in co-regulation with the practitioner’s nervous system, reduce stress hormones, and strengthen your felt sense of safety and containment within your own body
You’ll be invited to notice physical sensations such as warmth, tightening, trembling, or expansion, and to track them with awareness. This gentle attention helps your body complete unfinished stress responses and move toward natural equilibrium.
Complementary tools such as mindfulness, guided imagery, and energy awareness may be included to support the process of integration and regulation.
Our Gratuity Policy
We compensate all our practitioners at or above industry standards for their specialty, ensuring they receive a living wage. Gratuity is not part of the standard SE Practitioner pay scale, therefore you're never expected or required to tip at checkout.
